Improvement of a Truss-Reinforced, Half-Concrete Slab Floor System for Construction Sustainability

The truss-reinforced half-concrete slab has been widely used in prefabricated construction all over the world. It become most component form China. However, its cost is higher than using conventional method. To improve half floor system, it essential to have a comprehensive understanding of slab’s structural performance complete loading history. Six experimental tests on such slabs were carried out. Three them reinforced with steel bar truss (SBT) and other three tube/bar (STBT). tube an STBT was grouted. results show that when specimen damaged, grouted does not undergo out-of-plane or in-plane buckling, force good compared SBT. Compared SBT-reinforced specimens, load characteristic values STBT-reinforced significantly improved, had greater initial stiffness resistance deformation. Due fact observed, after having studied design, dry, prefabricated, system can reduce volume concrete amount present proposed. proposed advantages allowing easier construction, reduction, reuse components afterward make prefabrication more sustainable.
